A global phenomenon

Over the past several years we have been delighted to see a worldwide expansion of interest in the study of Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi. Whether it is through the MIAS Journal, Symposia, workshops, study groups, the MIAS archive and library, the website, or online classes, an ever increasing number of people enjoy their association with the Society and benefit from it.

Until recently, Memberships and Journal subscriptions combined with judicious ad hoc donations have covered the cost of our activities, but this is no longer the case. The Society is now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, and is required to establish regular further funding in order to meet the needs of our growing roster of Fellows, Members, friends, long-term and short-term students, and interested people all over the world.

A three-year plan

Over the next three years we would like to:

  • Reinstate the annual Symposium and other hospitable in-person events
  • Update our library and archive catalogues
  • Relocate our library to a more accessible place
  • Take on new members of staff to help run our online courses and events
  • Work to distribute the MIAS Journal more widely
  • Develop new communications media to keep our supporters in close touch with news from around the world
  • Explore and expand links and programmes with universities and other suitable entities

Can you help?

The Society would be enormously grateful for any support you can give.

Support the Presidents’ Fund

In 2022 the Society launched the Presidents’ Fund, which is a general fund to support the Society’s activities. The Presidents’ Fund marks the retirement of Grenville Collins, who served as Chair of the Society from its inception in 1977, and is now our Honorary Life President, as well as to honour our previous Honorary Life Presidents, Bulent Rauf and Angela Culme-Seymour.

Set up a regular gift to the Presidents’ Fund

Such gifts are enormously helpful as they allow us to plan for the future.

Give a one-off or occasional contribution to the Presidents’ Fund

Donations of any size are very much appreciated!

How to make a donation

The are two ways to make a donation – by Bank transfer and by Card payment. Bank transfers are best for payments from the UK and Europe. Card payments (processed through Paypal) are best for international payments from outside Europe.

Gift Aid

If you are a tax-payer in the United Kingdom, please consider completing a Gift Aid Declaration.  If you are eligible, MIAS can claim back from the Government an extra 25p on every £1 you donate, at no extra cost to you. Filling in the form below is very simple, and allows us to reclaim tax paid on the sum donated.

Bequests

Include a gift to the Society in your Will. Bequests are an important source of funds for the Society. Please do consider this form of giving, in consultation with your solicitor or legal advisor.

One excellent example of this form of giving is The Etel Adnan Endowment Fund, for which the Society is enormously grateful.
