Journal of the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society
Contributing to the Society Journal
Notes for Prospective Contributors
The Society’s Journal features articles relating to the study of the works and ideals of Ibn ʿArabi and his school. Published twice a year, JMIAS warmly welcomes contributions based on original research and analysis of primary materials. JMIAS assesses articles on the understanding that they have not been and are not being published elsewhere. Please consult articles in past issues for an idea of what JMIAS publishes. Review and publication of an article depends on it being submitted in accordance with the following general guidelines, and submissions not conforming to these guidelines may be returned.
- It should be in English and in its final form, normally not exceeding 7000 words. Longer articles may be considered.
- It should be double-spaced in Microsoft Word in a Unicode font, accompanied by a pdf.
- Transliteration of Arabic, Turkish and Persian words should conform with the IJMES transliteration system.
- Please include an abstract, keywords, a head-and-shoulders photo, a short biography and an email or letter that includes the author’s name, academic affiliation (if any), postal address and email.
- JMIAS requires footnotes, not endnotes or a bibliography, and all citations should be of printed works wherever possible. The first mention of a work should include all the bibliographical details, with a short form used thereafter.
Please email your submission to journal@ibnarabisociety.org, or post it to PO Box 892, Oxford OX2 7XL, UK, addressed for the attention of the Editor-in-Chief.
All articles are subject to peer review by two independent scholars. Revisions should be made in consultation with the Editor. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject submissions, and his decision is final.
Proofs
Authors will be sent a pdf proof of their article prior to publication. To avoid delays, this should be checked immediately for typographical errors and returned as soon as possible.
Complimentary Copies
Each contributor will receive a pdf of their own article, plus a print copy and full pdf of the JMIAS volume in which their article appears.
